Enchanting Activity Areas: Designing a Playground for Inclusive Development
Designing and constructing an engaging playground for a Family & Children’s centre, tailored for our council client, has been an exhilarating journey blending creativity and functionality. The play space is thoughtfully adorned with features that cater to the holistic development of young minds. A sandpit, shaded by a bush log structure with a double storage box, sets the stage for imaginative play. Music Play is encouraged with the inclusion of sound tubes, pagoda bells, and tubular bells, creating a vibrant auditory experience. The adventure unfolds with a mud pit, a dry creek bed complete with a pump handle tap and slimline water tank, and a sleeper deck platform. An open cubby connected to a bridge over the dry creek bed sparks imaginative exploration. The thrill continues with a double slide surrounded by log steppers for balance play, nestled beneath the shade of local native canopy trees. Climbing adventures are facilitated by an A-frame scramble net, large natural stone boulders, and a unique tractor climbing feature crafted from a reclaimed farm tractor seat and recycled tires.
Gardens, both sensory and butterfly, add a touch of nature, attracting butterflies with flowering plants and providing resting spots on flat natural boulders. An adventure path weaves through the play space, connecting various activities with a natural bush log arbour and diverse paving textures. A basket swing with a shade sail, a narrative play area with natural hardwood bush log tepees, a function area with hardwood bench seats tucked into garden beds, and a produce area with raised eco-wood sleeper beds further enrich the play experience. Throughout, the landscape reflects the essence of the local native environment, featuring grassy Eucalypt Woodland, native flower gardens, and strategically placed feature boulders. This playground is a testament to our commitment to creating vibrant, educational, and environmentally harmonious spaces for young learners.
