Since the closing down of the old Williamstown RSL, we’ve been working for a few years to design an adventurous playground for a new childcare centre built in its place. A small contemplation garden greets you on the corner of Rosny Place and Ferguson Street where you can rest atop some beautiful Australian hardwood bench seats and remember.
Within the play area downstairs, the old Army, Airforce and Navy windows have been incorporated. These frames are not only a great way to preserve the windows, but also create distinct areas of play for the children to grow and learn.
Upstairs, the tall canopies of the native street trees are visible and even hang over the balustrade to help enclose the play area directly in nature. Large garden areas for exploring and many different types of seasonal and native plants create a space where children can get in touch with and really immerse themselves in nature.
We’re in love with this new playground and really hope a new generation love it as much as we do!
