Landscape Construction of Multi-Yard Play Space for ELC
This outdoor learning project involved the construction of play spaces designed to cater to young children with two distinct areas, each offering a range of interactive and educational features.
For the 3-5-year-olds, the outdoor space includes raised cypress wicking beds and circular raised planters that promote gardening and nature exploration. A dedicated Pollination Station with native bees and a water tank that harvests rainwater from the Covered Outdoor Learning Area roof further enhance the environmental learning experience. The area features engaging elements like a hopscotch grid, a trike parking zone, and custom play equipment. Interactive panels on the fence, including mirrors and blackboards, provide additional opportunities for sensory and creative play. The 3-5’s space utilises recycled brick paving, long pile synthetic grass, and coloured concrete for durability and aesthetics, with a mini sports court for structured activities.
The 0-2-year-olds’ play space is thoughtfully designed with safety and developmental needs in mind. Separated securely with a rustic timber dividing fence, this area includes a babies sandpit for tactile exploration, a small slide, bubble viewing panel, and a low deck designed for tummy and back play offer age-appropriate activities that support motor skills development. A cruising wall aids in walking practice, while the bench seat story time nook provides a cosy spot for reading and quiet play. The 0-2’s area uses long pile synthetic grass with soft fall cushioning for safety and comfort and a multi-surface ‘texture path’ to stimulate sensory exploration.
Overall, this landscape construction playground project included creative age appropriate play elements, providing a rich environment for learning and development for all future early learners.
